Pillow talk

Jordan talks in his sleep on nights that he is super tired.  Here are two of our "conversations" from the past couple of nights.

Last Thursday I had watched a really odd movie in class and it was giving me crazy dreams and I was having a hard time sleeping. So I decided to wake Jordan up and tell him.
Me: I am having strange dreams, will you talk to me for a second to help get my mind off of it.
Jordan: Sure, tell me about them first.
Me: Crazy diseases making us all sick and dying. (I elaborated much more for him)
He sits right up in bed and looks at me and asks- Was it on a Shaw drawing?
Me: um no?
Jordan: Tracie, nothing can happen that is not on an approved Shaw drawing, it's not on a drawing it's not going to happen go back to bed.

Can you tell what his life consists of? Looking at drawings.
He has no memory of this of course.

The next night.
Madilyn was teething and was up every few hours.
After getting up with her 4 times already and she is crying again I ask Jordan to take her this time.
His response- Tracie, will you please finish baking, I am not going anywhere till I eat my bacon.

Again, no memory of saying that or of Madilyn waking up crying 7 times that night.

flattery

Who knew that a 3 year old could make you feel so flattered?

I have one class on campus this semester for nursing school, so my AMAZING friend has offered to watch Madilyn a few hours a week for me.

She has 4 kids, and the two youngest are the sweetest little girls who are 3 and 1.
I think it is pretty safe to say her girls love madilyn.

Sidenote-I NEVER thought I could feel this comfortable leaving Madilyn with anyone, this has been such a great experience.

Anyways, my friend told me the best story the other day.
Recently when her 3 year old is playing she like to play ME!
She goes around saying, "I'm Tracie, here watch my baby madilyn I gotta go to school now."

I thought it was just the best thing that she thought it would be fun to make-believe she was me and my baby was hers. Cause lets face it, kids like to pretend they are people who they think are cool.

Still living the college life.

Background:
When we graduated and Jordan got a job we deiced that even though we had a real grownup paycheck that we wanted to continue living like college students for two years in order to put ourselves in a good financial situation in the future.  ( I realize that we bought a house so that might seem contradicting, but our mortgage is much cheaper than rent would be out here. Just for the record.) This means our mismatched couches were free, my desk was free, our lawn mower has completely dull blades but it was free, we do not have dinning room table we just eat standing up or on the couch, we don't own a TV (actually we decided we probably never will or at least never have cable), besides things that our built into our house like cabinets and shelving we either store stuff in boxes or something we already owned.

Fact:
We are trying to live cheap and sometimes it is hard.

Funny conversation with Jordan:
Jordan-I think we should get two more laundry baskets
Tracie-Hm? why?
Jordan-well wouldn't it be nice if we had a place to put our dirty clothes and somewhere to put our clean clothes that don't really have a place in the closet?
Tracie-Wow, yeah that would be nice, I'll check the budget and see if I should pick some up

A few minutes later

Tracie- wait, don't most people just have a dresser for that kind of stuff?

Living the this way is really teaching me to not take the "finer" things in life for granted.

We did not buy the laundry baskets, I decided we did not need to live that cheaply to replace a dresser for baskets.
So I just found an extra box and stuck it in the closet.

Quick family picture.

On Sunday we took a quick family picture.
We have over 600 pictures of just madilyn, and over 100 of her and Jordan.
How many do we of all three of us or just me and her?  Maybe 4.

So we changed that.

High quality Photos by the  handy old point and shoot with a self timer.

10 Months.

Madilyn is pretty much the star of this blog.  Which I am cool with, one because she is pretty much the star of my life, and everything that I think it worth posting just happens to be about her.
So why not just tell you even more about my little 10 month old!

First off, 10 months!  How did this happen?  she is really getting so big and SO active.

Here are some happenings, current loves, and such.

It is really blurry, but here they were just relaxing together, she propped up on dad while she "talked" to him

Sharing some NUMMY lettuce wraps at PF Changs.

She is a walking machine, if she is holding on to something that is.
She holds on and walks everywhere, if she runs out of things to hold on to she crawls to the next thing and pops back up.

Plus look how cute the outfit dad picked out is!

She still LOVES the scriptures.  Remember the post on FEASTING on them a couple of months ago? Luckily she has stopped eating them, but she still loves to flip/crumple the pages.
Puzzles! These ones we found at the library one afternoon. 45 minutes of pure delight for her!

Madilyn seriously loves big people food, you know food that is not mashed.
She had her first very own sandwich, turkey and cheese. Loved it and ate the whole thing.

I am 100% sure she knows when food is being made. If I open the fridge it seems she magically appears with her hand up looking for a nibble of anything.
Sees me grab her camelback, meets me at the fridge or sink.
If she sees you even so much as get out a piece of silverware, you know you can expect some lovin from here.

Daddy gave her a big mouth full of ice cream when I was not looking.
She also loves her diaper bag.  She often crawls into the mudroom to find it.
She loves to empty everything out of any kind of bucket or bag and this one always has the good stuff, toys, sippy cup, moms keys.
This time I forgot to grab her crackers out of it and I found her with one in each hand and trying to eat the third right off the floor.

Life is great with our little busy body.

Picnic at the temple

A couple of weeks ago Jordan and I had the opportunity to go to the temple TOGETHER for the first time since Madilyn was born.  Jordan's parents went to a morning session and we drove up to Columbia and met them as they were getting out of the temple, and they watched Madilyn while we were able to go to a session.  Oh how I missed being in the temple with Jordan.  I have been a few times since she was born on my own, which has always been wonderful, but in all honestly it is so much better to be in that very special place with your husband.
Anyways we knew it was going to be a long day for Madilyn so we decided to pack a lunch to have together before we went in.  It was a pretty sweet picnic lunch if I do say so myself.  We figured we would just sit in the car or grass and eat, but when we got there we found like seven or eight picnic tables on the temple grounds.  I have never been to a temple that have picnic tables before! It was a beautiful day out and it was so nice to have lunch while being able to see the beautiful temple.
Daddy and baby both way more interested in the food than the picture.

 Columbia, SC temple.
Not the best picture, but it was our view from the table.

Her favorite part of the trip, eating her first orange. Peel and all.
